Vegetarian Food in France - Campus France

France has only some restaurants with vegetarian options and that too with only a few choices. The French cuisine is largely meat and fish oriented. Your best choice would be a salad as there are not many options for vegetarian food. If you prefer eating dairy, fish or eggs, you would have a greater choice.
Vegetarian options on Restaurant Menus:
Vegetarian appetizer or starters include: Salad with Cheese, Mozzarella, Tomato and Basil, Eggplant Pate & Vegetable Tart. For those who only eat vegetarian food, be aware as most of the vegetable tarts usually contain fish. You can also find veggie soup, steamed vegetables and baked or fried potatoes in most of the eateries. Some restaurants offer pasta with tomato, basil or cheese as a main course dish.
Ratatouille: It is a salad usually served as a side dish, but can be served as a meal with pasta, rice or bread. Tomatoes are the key ingredients with garlic, onion, eggplant, carrot, basil or green herbs.
For desserts, one must order for Ginataan – a thick dessert soup, warm and sweet made up of coconut milk, sweet corn and glutinous rice. This can be eaten with rice along with a main course as well.
There are a lot of options when it comes to breakfast – Fresh fruit, Oatmeal, Hash Browns with ketchup, Granola, Bagels, Brownies and Toast with jam are a few great ones. In restaurants you can easily find fresh fish dishes on the top of the menu.
